Trevor is an inspirational leader who has overcome a great deal of adversity. After going blind at the age of 35 from a rare eye disease, he has taken his handicap which most would view as a negative in life, and is striving to turn his disability into something positive not only for himself but for others. He brings leadership, resiliency and drive to the team.
Even as early as age 3 Trevor was enthralled by extreme sports starting with downhill skiing. In his sighted life he pursued high risk sports, such as skydiving, back country skiing, distance running, extreme mountain biking, and racing porches. After loosing his sight these pursuits were taken away leaving him with a void in his life. After finally coping with this tragic loss, he realized that his life had not ended. He accepted that there are things in life that he would have to let go, but resolved that the things he could do, he would do extremely well. After this catharsis he realized that he needed to acquire the skills necessary to cope in society as a blind person such as learning brail, using a cane for mobility, all the way down to the most rudimentary tasks such as cooking and matching his clothes. In an attempt to regain some of his former independence he began planning a seemingly impossible thru-hike of the 2,175 mile
